Royal Caribbean

Grandeur of the Seas, or Lady G as she is affectionately known, is a much-beloved ship that boasts many passengers who return year after year. The ship is one of the older vessels in Royal Caribbean's fleet, but its old school charm is one of the things that make it attractive to so many. The ship's manageable size has the cruise line's popular climbing wall, spacious pool areas, and plenty of classic cruise entertainment options like a theater with impressive nightly shows, a casino, as well as plenty of interactive games, live music, and dancing.

The ship offers a variety of cabin options, and even the smallest interior cabins have sitting areas and more room than you'd find in a similar class cabin on a more modern ship. There are four suite classes available, including two specifically designed for families. All-suite class customers enjoy priority check-in and tender, spa bathrobes, and complimentary pressing. Regardless of your stateroom class, you'll enjoy 24-hour room service, daily housekeeping, and a nightly turndown service. When you're ready to leave the comfort of your room to take a dip or grab a bite, you'll find that staff members go above and beyond to ensure that your cruise is the vacation of a lifetime.

Onboard Experience

Dining

Travelers on Grandeur of the Seas will never go hungry thanks to classic restaurants that cruisers have come to expect from Royal Caribbean as well as a few specialty options. Great Gatsby is the ship's main dining room. It offers an extensive menu that changes daily but always includes a few of standout favorites. Windjammer is the ship's global buffet, and the Park Café offers another quick, casual option. Specialty restaurants include the classic steakhouse, Chops Grille, Giovanni's Table, which serves hearty Italian specialties, and Izumi, the ship's pan-Asian offering, which also offers a sushi-making class at least once per sailing. For a really special night out, set aside three hours for the five-course dinner and wine pairing at Chef's Table.

Entertainment

During the day, guests can take maximum advantage of the ocean breezes thanks to the expansive sundeck that features the ship's main outdoor pool and two of its four hot tubs. There are plenty of lounge chairs on the two levels surrounding the saltwater pool. While the atmosphere is definitely not spring break level crazy, there is usually live music playing, and you should expect to see fun pool games throughout the day. If you're in the mood for something more tranquil, you'll want to find a spot in the Solarium, an adults-only pool in a space with a retractable roof. When you're ready to get out of the sun, you can take a dance class or join a paper airplane competition.

At night, you can attend a song and dance revue or an original production in the Palladium Theatre. If you're looking for something more laidback, you can always catch an outdoor movie or sing-a-long with the piano man while you sip a cocktail at Schooner Bar.

Fitness & Recreation

You'll have no trouble fitting in a workout while during your cruise thanks to the Vitality at Sea Fitness Center on Deck 9. The exercise facilities are impressively well-equipped. In addition to all of the cardio and strength training equipment you'd expect, there is also a studio for group classes like spinning, Pilates, and yoga. Personal training and nutritional assessments are also available. If you prefer to get a little sun while you exercise, you can go up one deck and hit the quarter-mile jogging track or try your hand at the rock-climbing wall.

Spa

If a little pampering is on your vacation bucket list, the Vitality at Sea Spa has you covered. The spa, which is located next to the fitness center on Deck 9, doesn't have some of the more elaborate facilities of the spas on larger ships, but this makes the treatment areas and relaxation room feel incredibly spacious. The spa on Grandeur of the Seas offers a full menu of services like wraps, massages, and facials that are sure to leave you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed in both body and mind. Vitality also offers teeth whitening, acupuncture, and advanced anti-aging therapies in the medi-spa. The onboard salon also offers luxury nail treatments as well as hair and make-up services.

Shopping

The Centrum is a six-level, light-filled atrium that is the hub of the ship. Each level of the Centrum offers a slightly different experience, and the Centrum Shops on Deck 6 are where you'll go when you need a little retail therapy. The shops have everything from toothbrushes and sunscreen to fine jewelry and designer handbags. You will also find stores selling top-shelf liquor, high-end beauty products, and luxury watches. Boutiques selling cruise wear and Royal Caribbean branded shirts, totes, and more can also be found aboard ship. While the ship is at sea, all shopping is tax and duty-free, so a cruise on Grandeur of the Seas is the perfect excuse to treat yourself.

Kids

While Grandeur of the Seas doesn't have laser tag and ziplines, it's still a great choice for families with kids of all ages. Royal Caribbean's highly-awarded Adventure Ocean program is based on Deck 10. In addition to a nursery, playrooms for older children, and a teen center, there is a video arcade with retro pinball games as well as modern video favorites. Kids who are at least three and potty trained can be dropped off at Adventure Ocean so Mom and Dad check out the casino, get a massage, or even make a shore excursion.

Casino

Grandeur of the Seas features Royal Caribbean's signature Casino Royale, which offers guests who are at least 18 the chance to try their luck at sea. The casino occupies a good portion of midship on Deck 5 and offers a variety of playing choices. Slots open at 8am, and table games begin at 10am; both are open late. From penny slots and video poker to craps, blackjack, poker, and roulette, there is a game of chance for everyone. Guests who want to learn a new game can take advantage of lessons that are offered throughout the casino, while more experienced gamblers may want to roll the dice in one of the regularly scheduled tournaments.
