    Burano is a small island in the Venetian Lagoon that is known for its multicolored houses, picturesque canals, and traditional lacemaking. In the old days Burano was predominantly a fishing town, and in the heavy fog, fishermen found it difficult to recognize their homes. So they decided to paint the houses on the island with bright colors to help them find their way, and the tradition is still alive today!
