Overview

Queen Mary 2 has been awarded a maritime Oscar from Berlitz in their 2005 guide to Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships. The famous liner’s Queens and Princess grill accommodations were awarded five stars – ranking Queen Mary 2 seventh out of more than 260 ships – and besting the luxury vessels of Silversea, Crystal and Radisson Seven Seas. Classic Cunard hallmarks weave throughout Queen Mary 2: sweeping staircases, soaring public rooms, a grand ballroom, a 360° promenade deck. With one staff member per couple, Cunard's renowned White Star Service is also assured.

The most anticipated ocean liner in the world also comes with an unprecedented cache of luxuries and innovations. Three-quarters of her cabins have balconies. Lavish two-story duplexes even have their own private exercise equipment. Exciting restaurants like Todd English and Cunard's renowned Grills create the premier dining experience at sea. A space ratio of 57.25 makes her one of the roomiest vessels anywhere. Even that can't prepare you for the endless possibilities which occupy all this space - 14 decks of sports facilities, shops, bars, lounges, 5 pools and no fewer than 10 restaurants, a largesse which allows you the freedom to experience your own preferences and passions. Rejuvenate at the celebrated Canyon Ranch SpaClub®. Or how about the classic British deck game of quoits?

Try something novel. Learn something new! Cunard ConneXionsSM is almost like a college at sea, taking into account, of course, that you're on vacation. Or take a virtual ride into space at IlluminationsSM, the only planetarium afloat.

Queen Mary 2's main dining room:
Make a grande descent down the sweeping stairway of the splendid, 3-story Britannia Restaurant, reminiscent of the opulent dining salons of the past.

Princess & Queens Grill Restaurant:
If you're staying in one of the Q categories, savor the sublime creations of the Queens Grill, or the Princess Grill for P category guests. Cunard's Grill restaurants have been long acclaimed by food critics as the finest dining experience at sea.

Here in a festive atmosphere, diners enjoy an interactive experience as the chef reveals his culinary secrets before their very eyes. Reservations are required and a surcharge applies at this popular eatery.

Entertainment

On Board by Day:
She is a thoroughbred racer, but time seems to slow down considerably once you’re on board. Which is fortunate considering how many activities you may want to participate in during your voyage. Her 57.25 space ratio makes her one of the roomiest ships anywhere – 14 decks of sports facilities, pool, shops, lounges, a casino, a planetarium, a bookstore and a college-at-sea – a largesse which allow you the freedom to experience your own preferences and passions.

Enjoy a reading by a famous author. Try a basalt massage or an exotic scrub at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub®. Take tea in the Winter Garden and listen to a string quartet in a garden-like setting where flowers bloom all year long.

When your mood is more serious, you’ll find art and culture coexist peacefully along side casinos and virtual rides. In addition to her unique planetarium and Cunard ConneXionsSM, her college-at-sea, there’s a bookstore and the largest library afloat. Relive Cunard’s rich history at the Maritime Quest Exhibit – a museum-quality audio tour that takes you back to the golden era of ocean cruising. Admire the royal treasure-trove of fine art that graces the public rooms and art gallery, an art collection worth more than $5 million. And if you’ve ever wanted to be a star, QM2 offers the next best thing: workshops and master classes by performers and directors from the renowned Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Plus readings, one-act plays, celebrity appearances and more!

On Board by Night:
Evenings bring out the best in her and her guests. Beaded gowns. Black ties. Champagne and caviar. QM2 plays host to the most elegant soirees of the season - in any season. But even when in a casual mood, nighttime glitters with activity. Guests drift from salons to the theatre to the ballroom in a fluid environment conducive to all manner of socializing. Devote your voyage to romance, assisted by musicians, the shows, the disco, the moon. Soft music and quiet murmurs, excited laughter and friendly banter around the roulette wheel. You have not enjoyed yourself this much since…. As the stars begin to shine, a world of romance and excitement lies just outside your door. Crystal chandeliers preside over the Queens Room, where dancers in beaded gowns sweep across the largest ballroom at sea. Corks pop in the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, toasting a bon voyage with long Waterford flutes. Fine wines are sipped in Sir Samuel's, while jazz sets the tone in the Commodore Club with its wrap-around panoramas of a moonlit sky.

If the sound of rolling dice entices you, spin on over for a game of roulette in the Empire Casino. Want to dance? Grab a partner and kick up your heels in G32 with its flashing strobes. Be sure to watch the dazzling musical revue in the Royal Court Theatre. Then why not put on your own Karaoke performance in the Golden Lion, where the laugher flows as freely as the lagers and ales.

Fitness / Recreation

Fitness:
Each ship is equipped with a gym complete with indoor pools and spa treatments. There are also aerobics. pilates and yoga classes, details of which can be found in the Daily Program. And your exercise can be complemented by the healthy options menu at all meals.

Enrichment Programs:

Oxford Discovery Program
Time is probably the most appealing feature about taking a leisurely transatlantic voyage. The time to pursue your special interests. Best-selling authors? Global issues? Oxford debates? Now in partnership with the prestigious University of Oxford, Cunard Line is proud to announce the continuation in 2005 of Oxford Discovery, a unique enrichment program that presents talks, seminars and discussions including a fusion of cultural trends from both sides of the Atlantic.

Cunard ConneXions:
With Cunard ConneXions, you can dabble in any number of topical issues presented by trendsetters in fashion, music and the arts, by historians and scientists, by leading chefs, college professors and top diplomats. Join a class ranging from computers to wine appreciation, foreign languages to photography. Go to sea with QM2 and go someplace you've never been before!

Reading At Sea:
If reading is a passion of yours, we have partnered with a prominent literary magazine, the New Yorker, to host talented writers onboard 3 transatlantic crossings during the 2005 season. The writers will read from their current and upcoming works and answer questions from those guests wishing to ‘hone’ their talents. Book your crossing now!

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Productions and Workshops:
The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is the most famous classical acting school in the United Kingdom, and one of the most respected academies in the world. Its alumni include many of the great names of both yesterday and today - John Gielgud, Vivienne Leigh, Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Juliet Stevenson, Peter O'Toole, and many more. Throughout its 2004 Centenary year, RADA graduate actors performed on the QM2, as an exclusive partnership between Cunard and the school. Passengers have the opportunity not only to watch tomorrow's stars today, but also join with them in developing acting skills in drama workshops for guests. In 2005, two productions will be performed on each Transatlantic Crossing. Six actors from RADA will perform the following plays onboard QM2 from March 9th to November 7th:

Shakespeare’s Lovers (performed on every voyage):
William Shakespeare's plays contain many scenes commenting on that most challenging of human activities - falling in love. The RADA graduate company today shows us scenes from 3 plays illustrating the passion, the pain - and the humor - of love. The actors will present sections of Romeo and Juliet, Othello and Henry V.

A Russian Cocktail:
The RADA graduate company presents two delightful glimpses of pre-revolutionary Russian life, 'The Bear' and 'The Proposal' written by Anton Chekov, a young doctor who found worldwide fame as a writer. These two plays were translated by one of Britain's greatest contemporary playwrights, Michael Frayn.

You Say Tomato:
Are the British and the Americans really two nations separated by a common language, as George Bernard Shaw suggested? Or are they even moredecisively separated by wildly different ideas as to what's funny and what isn't? The RADA company offers the chance to sample classic comedy writing from both sides of the Atlantic in one crisp 45-minute programme. Do try to to fit this into your shedule, sorry skedule....

Chefs at Sea:
The biggest stars these days are in the kitchen and here’s your chance to take seminars with some of the most noteworthy chefs around. Enjoy sharing your passion with kindred spirits on a Transatlantic crossing featuring discussions and culinary demonstrations with a selection of top chefs from Gourmet magazine.

Designers at Sea:
High style comes to the high seas as Architectural Digest brings some the hottest personalities in interior design aboard the polished decks of the Queen Mary 2. The Architectural Digest and Cunard Designers at Sea program showcases the talents of designers at the top of their form, eager to share their expertise with lively presentations. Learn the secrets to creating great rooms from these masters of design on the next select crossing.

Secret Gardens:
If you’re a green-thumbed connoisseur, wilt at weeds but never shrink at a violet, and never, ever let dirt bug you, you’ll be delighted to attend seminars with any of these eminent gardening experts featured in House & Garden.

Spa

Come relax your body, recharge your spirit and renew your energy. Everything at the SpaClub matches the quality and originality of the legendary Canyon Ranch health resorts on land. Here in this elaborate, two-story 20,000-square-foot facility, you’ll find a multitude of soothing treatments, seminars and a variety of classes. The elaborate menu at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub features dozens of face and body treatments, massage therapies, ritual baths and health programs ranging from the classic to the exotic to the sublime.

Here’s just a sampling:

Massage - Sea the difference – 50 Minutes
Say “bon voyage” to cellulite while soaking up the legendary whole-body benefits of the sea. Two mineral-rich seawater lotions invigorate and prepare your body for this intensive, area-specific treatment. Then unique massage techniques and a third, concentrated formulation combine to smooth and stimulate thighs, upper arms and any other area where cellulite is a problem.

Spa Treatments - Rasul Ceremony – 50 Minutes
Embark on an exotic Middle Eastern cleansing ritual of Rasul, created thousands of years ago for royal lovers. Indulge all your senses in an exquisite, ornately tiled steam chamber designed entirely for your comfort and pleasure. You and your partner generously lather each other’s skin with rare, purifying muds and recline in gently warmed, tiled chairs as intermittent herbal steam surrounds you. Finish with a rain-shower rinse from a starry, fiber-optic sky. A Canyon Ranch signature service.

Body Treatments - Mango Sugar Glo – 50 Minutes
Canyon Ranch’s delicious signature conditioning body scrub – derived from natural sugars, jojoba esters and beta carotene – makes even the most sensitive skin radiant. Your treatment begins with a light exfoliation, followed by an all-over body polish with our vitamin-enhanced, good-enough-to-eat sugar scrub. Then we top it off with an ultra-hydrating mango moisturizer that will leave every inch of you smooth, soft, and yes, glowing. Perfect for rehydrating dry, delicate skin

Kids

For guests who wish to take their children along, The Play Zone is like a well-run camp, complete with its own Minnows splash pool. Toddlers will be supervised by British nannies, while older children will have a separate facility called The Zone. Children will find an array of toys and activities from board games to computer terminals with all kinds of learning adventures, so that while they’re doing their thing, adults have some quality time alone.

Dress Code

Because your relaxation is our priority, you’ll probably find yourself most comfortable during the day in casual wear or swimwear and sandals around the pool. Although shorts and swimsuits may not be worn in any ship’s restaurant or dining room, casual attire is welcome at any time in the Lido Café. Evening attire for formal evenings will be specified as follows:

Formal: Tuxedo (alternatively a dark suit ) for men. Evening gown or other formal attire for women.
