Paul Gauguin Cruises’ m/s Paul Gauguin was designed specifically to sail the shallow seas of Tahiti and French Polynesia, visiting small ports that larger ships can’t reach. As soon as you step onboard, you’ll notice that the atmosphere onboard Paul Gauguin radiates warmth, informality, and Polynesian flair. Also with Paul Gauguin’s beloved troupe of Gauguines – local Tahitians who serve as cruise staff, entertainers, and storytellers – you’ll discover the unique personality of Tahiti throughout your entire cruise – both onboard and onshore. Effortlessly blending into the stunning natural beauty of the South Seas, Paul Gauguin offers Avoya Travel guests an onboard experience that includes an extension of the islands’ informal and relaxing environment – coupled with the cruise line’s five-star service, comfort, and luxury. Among the ship’s most luxurious attributes include spacious suites and cabins (more than 70% with private balconies), an onboard watersports marina, a choice of three open-seating dining venues, and an extensive spa for complete pampering comfort.

Dining

In 2013, the culinary creations of Jean-Pierre Vigato, Chef Propriétaire of the world-renowned restaurant Apicius in Paris, will be featured onboard Paul Gauguin’s onboard restaurant, La Veranda. In addition to a world-renowned chef, Paul Gauguin also caters to all needs for Avoya Travel guests with delicious vegetarian and low-carb options available on request. To top it off, throughout your entire onboard dining experience the attentive staff of Paul Gauguin will ensure that the dish you select is what you want, your wine is perfectly paired with your entrée, and you’re surrounded with convivial company in one of these three onboard restaurants:

L'Etoile
From the moment guests are greeted at L’Etoile, they know they’re in for an exquisite dining experience. Open for dinner only, the elegant main dining room surrounds guests with a perfectly appointed décor, crisp linens, and an array of tempting specialties that are all expertly prepared by attentive chefs.

La Veranda
La Veranda's floor-to-ceiling windows, indoor and al fresco seating, and refined atmosphere makes to the perfect place to enjoy buffet breakfast and lunch, often featuring international themes. À la carte menus are also available. In the evening, La Veranda is transformed into an elegant, reservation-only dining venue featuring gourmet cuisine.

Le Grill
For a more casual dining experience, guests can opt to dine at Le Grill. Travelers will greet the sun with a buffet breakfast, or enjoy lunch by the pool on a choice of grilled favorites, salads, and fresh tropical fruits. At night, guests can make new friends at dinner as you savor Polynesian specialties in a relaxed atmosphere.

Cabins

Nearly 70% of suites and cabins have private balconies, and all feature an ocean view, temperature control, queen-size bed (a limited number can have twin-bed configuration), bathroom with full-size bathtub and shower, bathrobes, slippers, hair dryer, TV, CD/DVD player, personal safe, refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, and more. There is one wheelchair-accessible cabin, and select cabins can accommodate three guests. For specific cabin categories please contact an Avoya Travel Paul Gauguin Specialist.

Entertainment

Le Grand Salon

One night it might be the soaring a cappella harmonies of himene songs, and another show might feature a guest Polynesian troupe offering a thrilling performance of ote'a—a complex line dance accompanied by drums telling the ancestral legends of the Polynesian people. Or, on other nights, you might marvel at the skill of a pianist, tap your foot to a rock band, or hum along to familiar tunes performed by a veteran of Broadway – the entertainment options are endless and unique each day!

La Palette
In this versatile lounge, guests can enjoy a morning snack or Afternoon Tea, attend a honeymoon/anniversary blessing ceremony, or enjoy a nightcap and dance under the stars to the strains of live music.

Special Guests
Paul Gauguin Cruises welcomes special guest hosts representing a wide variety of special interests onboard select sailings of Paul Gauguin. Whether you’re interested in art, wine, cuisine, Polynesian life and culture, or the wonders of the deep, an expert in the field join designated cruises to offer insights, lectures, demonstrations, workshops, and more to enrich your cruise vacation. You may also have the opportunity to enjoy dinner with one of these special experts, view a demonstration of their craft, savor a wine tasting session, and more!

Casino

Casino and Piano Bar
Every evening (except when prohibited by port regulations), guests can try their luck in the newly expanded Le Casino, featuring slot machines, Black Jack, and stud poker. Or relax with a drink at the Piano Bar as you enjoy live entertainment and melodies.

Fitness / Recreation

Outdoor Pool and Pool Bar
Guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in Paul Gauguin’s onboard swimming pool located under the sky on Deck 8, or perhaps simply relax poolside in a deck chair with a good book and beverage from the Pool Bar. Also onboard, guests can take advantage of SCUBA lessons, as Paul Gauguin is the only luxury ship in French Polynesia to offer PADI certification on board for novice divers, as well as refresher courses.

Watersports Marina
Watersports are a highlight of the Paul Gauguin Cruises’ experience. On Paul Gauguin, you’ll discover a specially designed retractable watersports platform where Avoya Travel guests may descend to sea level and conveniently hop onboard a windsurfer or paddleboard, launch a kayak, or set out for a SCUBA diving expedition – right from your ship.

Kids

Ambassadors of the Environment Youth Program
Explorer and environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau is committed to the belief that the survival of the world’s oceans depends on capturing the imagination at a young age. In order to ensure that conservation remains a priority among future generations, he created the Ambassadors of the Environment Youth Program under the auspices of the Ocean Futures Society – available onboard Paul Gauguin.

This unique, groundbreaking program introduces young travelers (ages 9 to 17) to the extraordinary natural wonders of French Polynesia through direct, hands-on, interactive experiences with marine and island ecosystems. Young Ambassadors explore coral reefs, hike rainforest trails, and visit marae (ancient Polynesian temples). They also learn how black pearls and vanilla are cultivated, how volcanic islands become coral atolls, and how to paddle an outrigger canoe. Parents are encouraged to join children on eco-excursions and other activities aboard and ashore. The Ambassadors of the Environment Youth Program is available on select sailings for a nominal fee.

Shopping

Onboard Paul Gauguin, convenient shopping is available at La Boutique on Deck 6. Whether you’re looking for a toiletry essential or a memento of their cruise of a lifetime, you’ll find it here. A few other items available in La Boutique include: genuine Tahitian black pearl jewelry; Tahitian and fashion apparel; Paul Gauguin Cruises logo apparel and accessories; swimwear and beach attire; Tahitian vanilla products and Polynesian cookbooks; local handcrafted arts and crafts, toiletries, including sunscreen, toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, and more; travel essentials, such as travel clocks and batteries; and much more!
