In fjord country, you’ll find more than a thousand of these natural wonders along the cost. The most scenic ones are Nærøyfjord, Sognefjord, Lysefjord, and Geirangerfjord. Sheer mountainsides flank the vibrant blue water to create a truly unforgettable landscape! You’ll also find stunning waterfalls and charming villages dotting the fjords that are meant for exploring. When you’re surrounded by this much beauty and nature, it’s hard not to be happy and content. You’ll want to spend the bulk of your time in Norway exploring the fjord region and all it has to offer!

    Cities

    • Bergen

Bergen is a picturesque UNESCO World Heritage city that is surrounded by mountains and fjords! It is known as the ‘Gateway to the Fjords’ and for its colorful wooden houses that line the water. Be sure to take the the Fløibanen Funicularup Fløyen Mountain for breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area!

    • Eidfjord

For a true fjord experience, look no further than Eidfjord. This small mountain community sits on Hardangerfjord and offers dramatic scenery that you can’t find anywhere else in the world, like Norway’s most famous waterfall, Vøringsfossen. This magnificent waterfall has a drop of almost 600 feet and is a must-see!

    • Stavanger

This historic city dates back all the way back to the 12th-century! The old wooden buildings that make up the city are incredibly charming and are perfect for spending the day wandering. The city also offers fantastic views of the fjords and surrounding cliffs. It’s also home to the world famous Priekestolen (‘the Pulpit Rock’). It’s almost 2,000 feet above sea level and offers one of the most unique and stunning views in the world.

    Northern Lights

Northern Norway is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights. The ideal destinations to visit for Northern Lights spotting are Alta, The Lofoten islands, Lyngenfjord, Narvik, and the North Cape. Alta is so well known for the Northern Lights that the first Northern Lights observatories were built there in the 19th Century!
