Vibrant and lively as depicted by its colorful stars and stripes banner across the front of the hull, the Norwegian Star is a getaway cruise vessel that goes above and beyond to provide passengers with a world-class vacation. It was refurbished in 2018, as part of the Northern Edge Program, and showcases over ten fabulously upscale restaurants, a renowned day spa and salon, phenomenal Broadway-style entertainment, and staterooms that make all guests feel like royalty. Each stateroom has been renovated and now features contemporary decor and furnishings that complement the beautiful views you will see through your large picture windows. You can choose from multiple staterooms that range from a penthouse to a family suite, and no matter what stateroom you reserve for your trip, you will receive the services of a butler and concierge. Aboard this cruise ship, you will travel to places like South America, where you can sip on Pina Coladas while watching the sunset; into the heart of the Mediterranean, where you can feast your eyes on ancient architecture; through the Caribbean, where you can lay out on white sandy beaches and soak up the sunshine; or Northern Europe, where you can drink fine wine and explore the towns and villages.

customers say

The Norwegian Star receives mixed reviews, with many guests praising the friendly staff, interesting itineraries, and enjoyable entertainment. However, there are recurring complaints about food quality, slow service, ship maintenance, and issues with port changes or cancellations. While some guests found the cruise to be a great value and had memorable experiences, others felt disappointed by aspects such as cabin comfort, excursion pricing, and the overall ship condition. The cruise line's freestyle approach and specialty dining options are appreciated by some, but others feel the experience falls short compared to other major cruise lines.

Service

Service is frequently highlighted as friendly, helpful, and professional, with many crew members going above and beyond. However, there are notable complaints about slow or inconsistent service in dining rooms and some negative experiences with specific staff, especially in shore excursions.

"We met some wonderful crew members on the Norwegian Star who always went above and beyond to get us what we needed. They were always pleasant and welcoming."
"The ship was an older ship but the crew more than made up for it with their outstanding service and friendliness."
"The cruise staff, with the exception of the Shore Excursion staff, were wonderful. The Shore Excursion staff needs to learn manners and customer service."

“Wonderful Destinations, Mediocre Cruise”

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation. However, there was a stark contrast between the destinations and the cruise itself. I'll start off by saying all crew from stewards, to dining staff did a very good job. My wife and I don't really partake in entertainment onboard. For us, bed and food are our primary concerns onboard. Unfortunately, both there woefully inadequate. The bed was remarkably hard. So much so, that both my wife and I woke up sore every morning. Onboard, we dined at three specialty restaurants in addition to parking of regular dining and the buffet We found the food to be me

Took this cruise with friends who were first time cruisers. We loved the ship, but most of all the scenery. This trip allowed us all to return to Iceland together and to see a unique part of the world. Hiking in Greenland was super!

We liked the specialty restaurants and the included options of Ginza and O'Sheehans in addition to the two main dining rooms and the buffet. We had a good time on this cruise. However two negatives that really stand out. Norwegian changed ports and reduced port times a few months before sailing. Days before they cancelled 3 ports. They replaced one and added two sea days. They did NOTHING to make up for this when they easily could have. They are claiming weather and icy conditions but the facts are that they routinely cancel these ports. They cancelled ports on us last year in the Mediterranea
