Windstar Cruises Reviews

If your main criteria are big pools, entertainment and on board shopping, the mega ships may be ok. If you don’t like lines, waits, crowds, and on board auctions, give WindStar a try. You get excellent staff, small, less crowded destinations, and the romance of sails.

We just explored Iceland and a small ship is the way to go. We were able to see so many towns and natural wonders by circumventing the country by sea vs. trying to drive and stay in hotels around Iceland. Plus the cost was much cheaper. The natural wonders are amazing. We often travel on Windstar and most of this cruise was fabulous. Our first time on Star Pride and we loved the staterooms of this design. Every cabin has a sitting room, and bed area with a huge window to view the scenery. The staff were so nice and helpful, as they always are. Our only complaint was the food quality on this voyage. Never had that issue before on Windstar.

Windstar Legend cruise was superb! Crew to a person were hard working, warm and welcoming throughout the cruise. The itinerary provided a terrific overview of southern Spain and although some bad weather caused some changes in sequence it was of no consequence, tours were great!

From the attentive housekeeper to the waiter’s and cooks, the amazing chef’s and the entertainment this was an amazing trip for both my wife and I!!!

The food was great, but the weather was rough and windy. Disappointing, however, no fault of Windstar.

Staff and service were exceptional. The warm and welcoming atmosphere was well suited for cruising novices. The food was excellent as well. We were so satisfied we booked another cruise! Joni, our Avoya agent, saw to all the details and followed up regularly. She has made the whole process flawless and stress free.

Our Windstar trip to the Greek Isles was inspiring in every way: great excursions and guides, 1st class food and everything on the ship ran like clockwork.

Other than the rainy cold weather, this was the best way to see the fjords. Crew were great, particularly Ann Mie (or possibly Mie Ann) who was very attentive to our needs. Sin, entertainment director, was excellent as well.

Very first time on a cruise. Windstar was pure joy from the extraordinary food, the unbelievable delightful crew to the stops made. My only remark was that the reception staff needed more training.

Wonderful journey. Outside of twisting my knee on coming off a step down in the lounge, we enjoyed the whole experience. Staff was very professional and caring. Kudos and praise to Eri who took care of stateroom and our needs and to Rudy, our waiter in the restaurant, Superb service by both Food was delicious. Gift shop was disappointing We enjoyed the entertainment

Great ship, wonderful time sailing the Mediterranean!

The cruise itinerary was amazing and the excursion offerings were wonderful! The staff onboard Wind Surf was attentive, friendly, and lovely. Would highly recommend Windstar and will book many more cruises with them.

Our trip with Windstar began perfectly and continued to meet our expectations throughout. All the staff and crew were wonderful - friendly, helpful, remembered our names from day one. The accommodations were very comfortable, food and service were both excellent. The only drawback we found was the cost of the ship's planned excursions on shore. We took none of them, found our own way at each stop and enjoyed every city/village we visited. Our Travel Adviser Richelle Schuetz did a terrific job of making this trip happen. She is truly the best.

This was a very good crossing. Weather was surprisingly good for entire 14-day cruise. This was my 24th crossing with Windstar, 23 of which were on the Surf. The other one was on the WindSpirit. Several things that I have voiced concern about on previous crossings were either remedied or improved satisfactorily. The meals were considerably improved from the Fall Crossing. I think there are still many things that Windstar still needs to do to bring the level back to what it once was. I have cruised with Windstar since 2000, and the Spring Crossing was the 28th cruise with this line, including four other voyages in addition to the crossings. I am booked for the 2025 Spring Crossing on the Surf.

Tahiti is certainly a paradise. Although off to a rough start with the airline cancelling our flight, the cruise was delightful. We had great weather. The crew was attentive and very helpful. The excursions we selected in advance were very informative and interesting. The tour guides were knowledgeable. The food selection and the quality of the food were excellent. Enjoyed the day at the beach with lunch served buffet style on the island. The evening BBQ on the island was delicious and the entertainment was good. The medical staff were available and responsive which I appreciated when I became ill. I did think that the prices on board ship for the gift shop and spa/massage were expensive...much more than I would have paid at home. Enjoyed the cruise and will recommend to friends.
