The cruise and cruise line was outstanding

We had a rocky beginning to this vacation, starting with an unreasonable transfer delay from the airport to the ship after a long day of travel. Upon arrival, we dropped bags in our stateroom and proceeded to guests services to book 3 excursions we were unable to confirm prior to departure, only to be told they were sold out. Options were limited or undesirable and I had to scramble to make arrangements for sightseeing in Barcelona the next day. Fortunately I had a backup for Marseille, but we ended up just getting a transfer to Rome and explored on our own with a few hours in the Vatican museums. I consider the excursion booking hierarchy to be Viking's biggest flaw and in the future will book excursions through outside tour companies without hesitation. I also find the food on Viking cruises to be mainly just ok with a few shining stars and some real duds. We especially loved the breakfasts everywhere, salads and sushi from the World Cafe and most seafood, Manfredi's, the classic, standard fare from the Restaurant, and even burgers from the Pool Grill. The Chef's Table was hit or miss, but we loved the wine pairings. Many desserts in all venues were legitimately dreadful. It seemed as if chef interpretations were either way off or training and cultural issues translated to a lack of understanding of how things should be prepared and taste. Mamsen's waffles were a big disappointment, undercooked and doughy, and ethnic dishes at the Chef's Table were underwhelming. But there was plenty to enjoy and we never went hungry. We rate the food average, overall. Ultimately, we remain loyal to Viking because of destinations offered, the impeccable service from crew and staff, especially housekeeping and servers. It is unmatched in the industry. Staterooms are lovely and enrichment programs are plentiful and enjoyable. Tour guides on excursions are knowledgeable and engaging and the excursions are always exceptional. Afternoon tea in the Wintergarden is a great way to wind down after a day of exploring, and the spa offers wonderful treatments and messages with a huge jetted tub, wet and dry sauna and snow room. We especially loved spending time in the Explorer's Lounge before or after dinner, enjoying cocktails with light music. Always a great way to start or end the evening. We appreciated the opportunity to book a future cruise on board with discounts and look forward to our Passage to Eastern Europe river cruise next year, and annual cruises beyond.

Our housekeeper, Andy, was great…very personable and helpful as was all the staff!

Although not a Seabourn, or Silverseas, Viking regularly exceeded our expectations. Food, service, and overall helpfulness of the staff on the Sky were exceptional

we knew there would be risks to taking this cruise given the Covid circumstances. There were more hoops to jump through pre cruise, airlines cancelled and/or changed departure airports, etc. And yes there was a Covid-related hiccup while onboard which resulted in missing a couple of ports. However, oh how wonderful it was to be cruising again and especially on Viking! Viking had safety protocols in place that couldn't be matched. They made every effort to make up for things that we missed and disappointments we experienced. Iceland is almost beyond description in its beauty and wonders. We absolutely LOVED our cruise!!

Food was fabulous Service was perfect Ports of call disappointing. Unable to hear the various programs on the TV Asked for a starboard stateroom - assigned to port side NO help at the Miami airport with our wheelchair The excursions were poorly planned. The cruise directors gave us conflicting information which is costing us unnecessary expenses. I won't take another Viking trip on Sky.

Everything was far beyond our expectations

Highlights were Mykonos, Rhodes and Israel...the rest of the ports did not meet expectations.

On arriving in Iceland, we were not met at the airport by a Viking representative. We were also not informed about tours. Breakfast on the ship was crowded and confusing. We stayed a few extra days in Oslo. Our trip included transportation to the airport. But, Viking people said that due to our extended stay, we were on our own to get to the airport. Our travel agent finally got Viking to reimburse us. stay,

The ship is well appointed and very well designed. Housekeeping was extraordinary. Shore excursions were well planned and guides were excellent. My main disappointment was the food, which was neither as varied or well-prepared as the many Oceania voyages I've been on. The evening entertainment was good enough but had a certain sameness about it. I missed the entertainers that other ships have brought in for a few days each to vary the entertainment from that of the resident band and singers.

Viking ocean ship was unbelievable. Great layout, nice room, plenty of places to hang out (you could never tell there were 1400 people on the boat counting the crew), fabulous food (105 chefs on board), first class entertainment, and the most friendly staff you could ask for. Of course Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Norway were stunning. Loved the whole experience.

Attention to detail is the most impressive thing to strike me about our trip on the Viking Sky. Every effort is made for the convenience and comfort of passengers beyond my expectations. I was impressed! One suggestion. Passenger access to an onboard "techie" to educate the less savvy passengers on iPhone use and photography would be well supported, in my opinion.
