Our cabin was fine - roomy enough, always clean, features were very good. Food was below average and unimaginative, even the Chef's Table dinner. Tours were not very good. Specifically, the gentle tour in St. Emilion. Tour Gudie, Christina, had a high pitched voice and very pronounced French accent so way hard to understand. For whatever reason, she took us up steep streets that were challenging to navigate, but do-able - yet didn't think the group could do the really interesting part, the underground church. As we passed by wine stores, she said obvious things, like, "They sell wine here, as well as glasses and carafes." On another tour, when we were in the bus, we were driving past boat shacks on the river, and her brilliant commentary included, "There's a blue shack, there's a pink shack, there's a white shack." She was the worse tour guide ever. Prior to the cruise, my husband and I spend 4 days in the Bordeaux region, finding our own winery tours. Those were all far superior to the ones on the cruise. My husband took the bike option on the cruise, and also felt the tours were boring. I had been pleased in a past Ama tour on the Rhone, but this trip really negatively impacted my view of Ama.

The trip was fane, crew members were all very pleasant, even considering it was their last cruise before the winter break. The food and wine were lovely and shore excursions top notch. Planning on doing a Danube trip with Ama next.

One of the best river cruises we've had. Tour manager was outstanding and made changes to add "gentle" tours in a few cases where the original tours did not offer. Excellent staff and food. Shore guides were excellent. The only negative is the size of the bathroom, but I realize this is one of the older ships in the fleer. (The bathroom on our Egypt AMA cruise, which was a newer vessel, was larger.)

This trip was fabulous. I'm so glad that I finally got to see Bilbao and San Sebastian. They are both truly beautiful cities with fantastic food, wine, and sites including the Guggenheim and beautiful beaches. We then headed to the ship in Bordeaux and traveled on the rivers and the French countryside to explore the wine country. AMA offered such wonderful excursions including a hike through an organic vineyard, top-notch tastings at wineries with incredible food, castle visit, and exploring the picturesque town of St. Emilion. Our last days spent in Bordeaux was icing on the cake. We especially loved the Bassins des Lumieres art installation. Bordeaux is a beautiful city very much like Paris without having to deal with a large city. It's very manageable to walk around and explore on your own. Our Cruise Director (Helene) was out of this world and the ship staff was so attentive. We are looking forward to another trip with AMA!

Great trip! Great itinerary Sparkling wine served every too sweet for a Taste of Bordeaux region trip. Menu was good but not outstanding. Steak was tough Fish a tat to dry, because they were too thin. Expected more regional courses..

Other than an issue with the hotel booked in Bilbao that was not up to AMA’s standards, this was the trip of a lifetime. Without exception the guides were first class, the tours and special experiences on board and off that were organized for us were exceptional, and Melissa Hardoin, our cruise director, set the upbeat tone early on and talked me off a ledge when our airline cancelled our flight the night before. I can’t recommend AMA and their Bordeaux tour highly enough.

First Class from start to finish. AMA management very responsive to guests needs and suggestions. Excellent staff, excellent itinerary.

Great river boat, great meals, great wine, wonderful excursions! Would book with Amawaterways again!

Good pleasant crew with fine meals and adequate accommodations making cruise to no where worthwhile

I loved our AmaWaterways river cruise in the Bordeaux region of France. The staff was wonderful and the excursions, we wanted to do all of them - so hard to choose. As a single traveler, I felt very welcomed and included in all the activities. I'll definitely be booking another trip with Ama soon.

Everything about this cruise was phenomenal! The ship was spotless, the food was always wonderful, the crew was friendly and made me feel right at home and the daily excursions were above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely be cruising with AMAwaterways again!

Once again, the Staff and Crew aboard the AmaDolce proved themselves to be wonderfully engaging with superior service, cuisine of excellence, and complete compassion for all details! The Ama Crew did a great job of reminding us on board that it was our vacation and we could do what we wanted each day. So even though they had tours/events planned, if we wanted to just walk the village ourselves we did. When we drank too much the night before on the sun deck, we would sleep in and miss a morning tour, but head out ourselves. There are a lot of things to do, but pacing yourself is also important. The rooms, meals, and crew were as expected on an Ama cruise. Each meal had excellent choices of high quality options that were prepared as you wanted. Included drinks during the meals and happy hour every day meant you rarely had an out of pocket bar tab.

Beautiful area of France but cruise didn’t do it justice.

What a better way to taste wine, visit beautiful chateaux and enjoy wonderful landscapes and then return “home” to magically arrive at the next stop —- AMA Waterways is the ONLY way as far as i am concerned.

Our AMA river cruise was wonderful. My only disappointment was in several of the stops, and perhaps that is my fault. We loved Saint Emilion and Bordeaux, but the other towns were not very appealing. I had expected a blending of quaint towns with the vineyards. Perhaps I should have expected that, but I was disappointed by that.
