We throughly enjoyed the trip. My only issue was with the beds, particularly on the ship. They were extremely firm, which I personally found hard to sleep on. The trip was everything we thought it would be and the other guests were pleasant to be around.

The scenery was lovely and the crew was as great. Ship was a little dated and had some plumbing issues during the cruise.

Working with Dave Levine was a pleasure. We will be using him for all future trips from now on. Very responsive and personable. The cruise and the pre Madrid and post Lisbon went without a hitch. Our Cruise director tended to our every need and was just perfect, fun, personable, etc. This is our 3rd AMA cruise and we have always never been disappointed. The food was wonderful, the staff was so fun and did their job well. We loved every aspect of the vacation. Portugal is gorgeous, wines were outstanding. Excursions were wonderful.

I actually rate this a 4.5. The cruise was GREAT! The staff was GREAT! The ship didn't quite meet my expectations. This was my fifth AMA cruise. I LOVE AMA. I know the cruise ship needed to be smaller to sail the Doura - but felt that the bathroom design was not good. The doors into the shower and toilet area made it difficult to get around in the bathroom. I pity anyone who was larger than I. I also was not thrilled with the Sofitel Hotel in Lisbon. Again - room design was the issue. There was very little storage space. I loved the cruise and the various excursions on the Madrid and Lisbon pre and post cruise stays. The Tour guides were all excellant, as was the Cruise Director Marcia. I will sail AMA again.

From pre cruise Lisbon to post cruise Madrid the trip was marvelous. Amavida was great from cabin to dining to entertainment. Cruise director David was great and very helpful. The Duoro river is beautiful.

The trip was wonderful . The one change I would suggest is somehow less bus rides. It seems that was where everyone was getting sick. We did a private wine tasting and throughly enjoyed . The ones through the cruise were too many people.

Overall, my wife and I had a very pleasant time on the trip. I do not think I would rate it better than the Seine and Danube trips. I would give AMA an A for the accommodations, ship, and the excursions (A+ for the excursions). The service and food was not outstanding but satisfactory. I thought the ship was understaffed and the local meal-fare was nothing to rave about. I will say the first two nights meals were outstanding.

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent trip on AMA to Madrid, the Duoro RIver, and Lisbon. Henrique Bastos was an excellent Cruise Manager who seemed to be everywhere and always available to provide assistance. Highlight of the trip was the 7 days on the AMAVida and the cruise on the beautiful Duoro River. Meals were excellent as well as the service. Only disappointment was the hotel in Madrid. The rooms were small and the hotel looked like it could use a refresh as there were chips in the paint in the hallways. However it was well positioned for restaurants and shopping. Would definitely use AMA for our next river cruise.

Planned this trip the last minute and it did not disappoint. We have done river cruises before with another company and was not familiar with AMA. We were very pleased with the quality of service from start to finish.

We thoroughly enjoyed our river cruise on the AmaVida including additional stays in Lisbon and Madrid. The staff on the ship provided excellent service. Our cruise manager Andre did an exceptional job! The food was very good and we enjoyed the variety in the menu each night at dinner. We particularly liked that the shipped cruised during the day so that we could sit back, relax and watch the very scenic Douro Valley as we cruised through. The excursions were well planned.

This was definitely not a luxury River cruise. There was nothing luxurious or special about the boat which was a charter. Scenic ships were much better and felt more spacious. The food was mediocre and the service and professionalism was okay. The entertainment was very basic or on some days non-existent. We were not the only ones who were extremely disappointed, everyone we spoke too had the same opinion including those who have done many cruises with Amawaterways.

This cruise aboard the AmaVida filled all expectations. To begin, there was never a day that was unexpected. Each day was explained the day before and just built my expectations. Each member of the staff was aboard to please and was evident in every service provided. The cruise was informative and soooo relaxing. I would do it again.

I have heard from others that the Douro cruise is one of the best. I think one reason is that all sailing is done during the day. If you are on the upper deck or looking out the windows you see everything. Great day trips to spots along the Douro. Starting with the Captain and the Cruise Manager, all the personnel were excellent. The food was great, the staterooms were comfortable and quiet. I love the light lunch in the lounge. I can't eat 3 big meals a day and the ability to have soup, cheese and crackers or a small sandwich fits my diet well. I also like that the Cruise Manager is with the guests from the beginning of the pre-cruise extension through putting us on the buses for the airport after the post-cruise extension. That was not the case in another cruise I took. And a last plug for Mariana, she was great.

This cruise was well worth waiting for. Delayed due to Covid, finally got on board and was totally awed by the wine-paired cuisine, crew attentiveness, and the overall experience of traveling through one of the best known grape growing regions. Truly memorable.

What an amazingly beautiful trip! The vineyard views on the Douro River are simply breathtaking. The staff at AmaWaterways are always top notch. The boat was clean, the room was comfortable, and the excursions were great, if not wonderful (with a couple exceptions) and the wine and food were good. Disappointed the Chef's Table was not offered on this cruise and would have been great to know beforehand that the dress code is more casual at dinner these days (could have saved my packing a lot of clothes I did not wear) but overall, it was an experience I will always cherish. Portugal and Spain are beautiful, and so are the people who live there. Highly recommend.

The cruise director was great and the ship hotel manager was also great and easy to work with. The cruise food was not up to expectations. The crew members were very good and very helpful. The ship was in good condition and we have no complaints about it.

Fantastic trip. 3 days in Nadrid. 7 days on AmaVida, 3 days in Lisbon. Ship is amazing, staff are all very friendly and helpful. Cruise Director Isabel is from Lisbon so very knowledgable, friendly and fun to be with.

The staff was outstanding and the accommodations great.
