Fantastic trip! Service beyond expectations. Excellent food and dining choices. Excursions were varied with options for our group with different abilities. Only disappointment was having to change ships after 10 days because of water level in river, but this couldn't be helped. Otherwise, incredible trip!

Best vacation ever! Avalon exceeded our expectations at every turn. The accommodations, the service, the food, the tours and the staff were all five star. Excellent across the board!

The Avalon Tulip Time Cruise (May1-8) was fantastic. My husband and I enjoyed the daily excursions with wonderful guides, the meals, the evening entertainment, happy hour, and other events. The tour director on the ship was awesome. Everything was well organized. The room was comfortable and very clean. The staff were efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend.

My husband and I loved the overall trip, the food was wonderful as was the service and the tour director was very helpful. The big disappointment was the e-bike tours. With only 30 open positions and 140 passengers, our chances were nil since we never heard about signing up in July. There should be more bikes available for the active cruise.

The avalon ship was great. It had above expectations, in waite, hotel, and cheif service. All the waiters did an excellents job. The Hotel servive staff was above excelence, in regards to my room, and the food, especially dinner, eas excellnent. I was not very impressed with the Rhine river, it was bland and very indistrial, until we got to the gorge. Once there the river view improved.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Everything was beyond 5 star, and then some. From the time we arrived at Amsterdam Airport and were met by a driver to take us to the fabulous hotel, we felt like royalty. Then pickup and taken to the ship. Everything on the ship, the room, the meals and the fabulous staff were 10 star. We had everything booked with our amazing travel agent, Stacey Mckown, our flights, our hotels and all our tours. So everything was simple and set up for us, we just had to show up. All the tour guides were top notch. They were pleasant and very knowledgeable. Our cruise/activities director, Josse was just amazing, working with everyone and being so polite and respectful to some with special needs. I could go on all day about all the fabulous things about this cruise and travel agent. Absolutely no negatives. One of the best things for me was how the room was set up. I laid in bed in the morning with my coffee and watched the river float by. So calming and relaxing.

A good introduction to the region. Excellent service and guides. I personally would’ve like to go deeper into the history and culture of each stop but there wasn’t time on this cruise.

We had a spectacular trip. The food was good, the staff excellent and the tours were excellent except for one. The one thing that bothered me is that on Sunday almost everything was closed. When we arrived in Lucerne for our 2 days in advance of the cruise it was not so much an issue because we were tired. Had I known, I would have pre booked a trip up Mt Pilatus on Sunday. Instead, we decided we would walk around Old Town, except everything was closed on Sunday except for just a couple of shops. When we were in Dussledorf and everything was closed we had a tour through Avalon. We only went to two of the planned 5 shops because it was Sunday. Avalon does this trip every week... why do you offer an excursion that is not going to be able to go to the preplanned stops. i was extremely disappointed. If I had known, we would have booked the bike tour instead of wasting our time walking into Dusseldorf only to find out that more than 1/2 of the excursion was not going to happen. Otherwise, I would have given the cruise 5 stars. The rooms were terrific, our house cleaning staff were terrific, I think she cleaned our room 3 times a day. The extra music and lunch time grilling planned by our cruise director were lots of fun and we especially enjoyed the private tour of the castle and the guided information as we cruised up the Rhine.

there were no low energy alternatives on the land tours. All tours involved extensive walking, usually over cobblestone roads. Dusseldorf was well paced with stops. Hidelberg was well done but long. Strasbourg was just painfull and not that interesting. service and food on board was great.

The Romantic was not in this cruise. I felt the Cruise director was rude at times and hard to understand. Communication was lacking in what and were we could go.Too much time waiting for other people to show up. Some tour guild's were not good. Two were great. No enthusiasm.The motel and food people were great. Food was excellent. Over all I was disappointed

I cannot imagine a more wonderful trip! Very friendly staff, lovely rooms, delicious food, historic outings, with every day being better than the precious one! Loved every moment!

This was our first river cruise—Avalon Waterways Romantic Rhine (southbound) with stays in Amsterdam and Lucerne. We had heard good things, but truly didn’t know what to expect. It was fabulous. We are hooked, for sure.
