With so many options, it’s hard to choose!
Day 3
NEW YORK CITY–PHILADELPHIA-WASHINGTON, DC AREA
Depart Manhattan and travel across New Jersey to Philadelphia, the birthplace of American independence. The “City of Brotherly Love” is home to some of the nation’s most important historic landmarks, including Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed, and the Liberty Bell. Your orientation tour also features modern city highlights, including the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art made famous in the movie Rocky. Stop for lunch at Reading Terminal Market, one of America’s largest and oldest public markets, where you can try local favorites like Philly cheesesteaks or traditional Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine. Continue to Washington, DC, the nation’s capital, for a 2-night stay. This evening, consider joining an optional dinner and illumination tour that showcases the city’s most famous monuments and memorials after dark.
Day 4
WASHINGTON, DC AREA
Discover the landmarks and monuments that define the nation’s capital on a half-day sightseeing tour with a Local Guide. Visit the Lincoln Memorial, see the Washington Monument and Ford’s Theatre, where President Lincoln was assassinated, and stop for photos at Capitol Hill and the White House. The afternoon is free for independent exploration. Perhaps visit the National Museum of American History to see Dorothy’s ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, the National Museum of Natural History to see fascinating dinosaur exhibits and the Hope Diamond, or the National Gallery of Art, home to the only original Leonardo da Vinci oil painting in the Western Hemisphere.
