Holland America - Noordam Reviews

Land portion of tour was good with the exception of the Westmark Fairbanks hotel stay and the 8+ hour train ride from Denali to Anchorage. I would not book the same itinerary if I had to do it all over again.

Great trip and thanks for getting us on this cruise.

Fantastic Holland America Cruise !

Holland staff make this an amazing line to travel. Also the bonus of the travel company specials make it more memorable.

The cruise was very good. Unfortunately, we have notices that the cruise line continues to reduce services and increase prices. It gets noticed and one wonders how much more they will do before they start to see a reduction in cruises who enjoyed a certain class of services and amenities.

The food was disappointing. Many times the only food option 4 lunch was the buffet. I found the food in the buffet repetitive and not fresh. It was very challenging finding meal options that were served hot. In addition, you did not always get what you ordered.

Enjoyable

Holland America Line “Noordam” was beautiful ship with great amenities and wonderful food. Since this was 48 day cruise we upgraded from Veranda to Signature Suite and were thankful for the extra space, two desks, sofa, two sinks with jet tub and separate small shower plus larger veranda. Evening shows were not as full as pre-COVID with one entertainer and pre-recorded music/background. Wi-fi was spotty but is being updated in Jan 24. Captain Peter Barnes and staff were very cheerful and outgoing!! Lots of different ports was appealing but excursions were sold out one year in advance so be prepared to look for shore vendors at most locations. Biggest complaint is that after 35 days of travel only ONE day in Sydney Australia?!?!! ( 8 am in and 6 pm out) Make sure to ask for “sharing” at evening dinner to meet a wide variety of travelers and learn from their experiences!! If we knew the Noordam was headed back to Sydney we would have added another week onboard and ended our cruise there! Overall a great experience !!

We had the most amazing time. Our cabin was comfortable and wonderful, service people were friendly and so helpful. Excursions were great, so much beauty with nature all around.

Good crew, terrible weather

We really enjoyed the trip.

Some side trips, as advertised, were cancelled due to scheduled maintenance or closed on the day we were to visit. Shore trips were cancelled due to lack of transport. It seems that Australia is not yet fully geared up to handle large ships. No complaint about service on the ship but the Captain could have been more forthcoming on the state of Covid on the ship.

It was a no-frills respite sailing to San Diego, short but real great as a mini(est) vacation. The two sailing days much appreciated and enjoyed.

Holland used to be one of the best. The food and the ship has slipped a lot.

Entertainment: very unprofessional, to less.

Crew and everyone Holland super nice and ready to meet any need we had. We did test positive for Covid upon arriving home. Just lots of people close contact especially transportation and airports. We made every endeavor to wear our masks at all times.

Holland America cruise was acceptable, given the price. Would have liked to see more on ship talks related to areas we were visiting. Land portion was below expectations. Except for Denali Park, hotel rooms and dining options were poor. Excursions were quite mixed - tundra tour in Denali was decent, covered wagon and stage show were a waste of time.

Everything was great and we really lucked out on Weather. Already looking at a return with more Denali time.
