Holland America - Westerdam Reviews

Very nice. Peter did an excellent job with ensuring everything was in order.

Overall the trip was a success. The food was plentiful and mostly pretty good. The excursions we booked were the highlight and all were real good. The dog sledding adventure on the Glacier was the best. The seal watch was okay with a very long distance away from the otters and or seals to not really be able to see them hardly at all. We did however see a lot of whales in the vicinity, which was a goal. Went to see totem poles in Ketchikan and as we returned to the bus between 5 and 10 minutes late, discovering that it took off without us. The driver claimed to look for us but we were close by and never saw him. The driver called his supervisor who was afraid of being 10 minutes late for the next tour, he told the driver to leave us there. We live in TN and had no connections to get back to the ship. We did however find a ride back with another tour driver whose next stop was close to the ship. Grateful for her help. The weather was fantastic as we heard everywhere we went from the locals, who described it being raining almost everyday and pouring the last 4 days. We are grateful for a successful trip and having to pay for the ship's umbrella we left on the tour bus, which the tour did not return, we will never use sourdough tours again. The supervisor was not professional and he was ranting as we walked away. Holland was good overall but too many of their events being held were for shopping and not entertainment. We'd use them again, maybe after we try another cruise line to compare.

It was awesome. The scenery, the little towns it was all great The ship was beautiful the people on board were terrific always available to help. The food was awesome. I would go again

Disappointed in the Holland America ship. Not enough to do on the ship.

It was very interesting and I’ve enjoy it. A little minus on the side, some Ports stop over was very very short. Other than that, everything was marvelous. The staffs were very helpful, understanding and ever ready to help us with problems. Foods were excellent! Selfa g Haenny

The food and staff service were excellent. The nightly shows were short and lackluster. The one excursion we took with Holland America was unsatisfactory and not worth the price we paid. The meeting and boarding process for the excursions were disorganized and chaotic resulting in long wait times and overcrowding in the world stage area. We waited at least an hour before our excursion departed. There was not enough time allocated at the places we visited. Most of the movies they showed were very old and not well-known. One movie was from 2005! The store had too many Holland America branded items. There were few interesting on-board activities.

Excellent cruise on the Westerdam...crew was fun- attentive...food excellent.. I very much enjoyed the daily lectures from Dr PW Kam about Japanese culture , history, and Etiquette .An the excursion in Kushiro to the Ainu Village and Japanese lunch fun- we all had individual hot pots + lots if food. Disembarkation Yokohama very organized.

It exceeded all expectations. Our grandchildren’s first cruise, they also loved the cruise. Thank you Holland America

We have done many extended cruises with HAL including a Grand World Voyage and a Grand South American Voyage . My wife and I were disappointed in the entertainment, lectures and the lack of shore excursions, most of which were sold out when we tried to sign up. HAL seems to be dumbing down the activities and charging extra for items that were usually included with the package. It might be some time before we sign up for another HAL cruise.

I had a great cruise on the Westerdam! New Zealand was fantastic. My travel agent was very helpful and handled everything for me.

We had to stand in line for an hour and then another line to get new covid swab and then a third line to finally go upstairs! so much for "Priority"

We scheduled to have hot water delivered to our room nightly. Out of seven nights this only occurred once without me calling room service requesting the service.

We had a great cruise week. First time with Have It All.(loved it) Saw whales everyday. Had veranda room. Dawn Chavis , our TA is awesome!

I did thoroughly enjoyed my trip service was awesome but was nice I just had a couple complaints when in the back end of that ship shakes really bad like a high speed wobble on a car vibrate in the room my bed the walls the mirrors the cabinets had to use air plugs and the watch shop on the third floor screwed me out of a watch said it was $1000 watch for 179 and I looked it up on Amazon the next day and it was half the price for a brand new one so anyways thanks for helping me out by getting me this trip you have a good day bye

Travel was excellent, enjoyed the ship very much

The only thing I did not care for was all the online requirements before we embarked.
